Summer 2020 Junior Band(and Pizza Tour!)
The start date of Junior Band will be contingent on the COVID-19 situation. We are looking forward to a Junior Band this summer, even if it is shortened.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN JUNIOR BAND?
As a musician in the Junior Band, you will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with other young band musicians from across the Northern Arizona region. You will get to play a wide variety of musical styles, and you will receive instruction on how to be a better performer on your instrument. As a part of some rehearsals, we will have guest instructors on most band instruments join us and work specifically with each section of the band in small group sectionals.
We hope that every young person participating in this group will be inspired and motivated to achieve a higher level of musicianship, and will bring that experience and knowledge with them back to their own school at the end of the summer. The final performance on Heritage Square in downtown Flagstaff is also sure to be a memory these young musicians will carry with them for a long time.
DID SOMEONE SAY PIZZA?
This year, just for fun, we will be adding a "pizza tour" to Junior Band. At the end of every rehearsal, each participant will get a slice of pizza! Each week's pizza will be from a different pizza place in town, and Junior Band members will be able to fill out a score card and keep track of their favorites!
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Participation in the Junior Band is completely FREE and all Junior Band members will also receive a free t-shirt...not to mention the free PIZZA!
NEW THIS YEAR FOR 8TH GRADERS...JUNIOR BAND LEADERSHIP
This year, we are creating a team of Leaders to mentor the younger players and help out with rehearsals including planning out rehearsal themes, room set-up, and checking in their fellow Junior Band members. These Leaders must be in 8th grade and have at least two years of band experience.”
